There's been lots of talk about who if anyone owns the right to the name Studebaker. Some have credited the rights to the museum among others and some say it is not owned by anyone. Now that has all changed.
Mr. Joseph King of South Bend, who made his fortune in land speculation and the popcorn concession at major ball parks in the midwest, has announced today that he is now the rightful owner to the Studebaker brand name. Due to the fact that he now has sole ownership of the Studebaker name he has requested the return to his newly formed company, Studebaker World Enterprises, LLC, all items with the Studebaker name imprinted, stamped or formed on them. According to Mr. King this includes vehicles, advertising, toys, clothing, photos and assorted memorabilia which shows the Studebaker name or any logos.
Mr. King went on to explain his reason stating, " My father lost his job when Studebaker folded and now that I possess the money to do so, I'm going to see to it that this hated name is removed from the public eye".
Mr. King plans to pursue a class action law suit against the Studebaker Drivers Club if they continue to use the name. He also stated that he will include i the suit any owners of the aforementioned items that refuse to turn them over to him.
Mr. King has forgone the titles or President or CEO in favor of Imperial Master of Studebaker. He has requested that to avoid legal action you return all items marked Studebaker to him no later than one year from now, or by April 1, 2011. You can send your items to Studebaker World Enterprises at PO Box 0401 South Bend, Indiana. 46614 and include in your address Attention: I.M. Joe King.
HAPPY APRIL FOOL'S DAY!
